In the last few weeks Jobs has become the most visited section of the SussexDigital website. It’s a good indication that there’s real appetite for a useful, locally focused view of opportunities across the county. We’ll be sharing a Job of the Week in the newsletter from now on.
Event picks
When and where: 4 Aug 2026, 9:30am to 12:30pm | Brighton & Hove | Brighton Indie Gamedev Events
Brighton Indie Coffee is back at Alcampo Lounge, with no agenda beyond showing projects, swapping advice and having a chat. The daytime slot makes it an easy drop-in for local game developers, and the venue is accessible and dog-friendly.
When and where: 4 Aug 2026, 6:30pm to 9pm | Brighton & Hove
codebar Brighton heads to Octopus Energy for an evening workshop, with pizza from 6.30pm followed by coding from 7pm to 9pm. You can get one-to-one support while working at your own pace, or volunteer as a coach and help someone else. Vegetarian and vegan pizzas are provided.
When and where: 5 Aug 2026, 6pm to 10:30pm | Brighton & Hove | Brighton Indie Gamedev Events
Brighton Indie Social returns to Alcampo Lounge for its monthly evening meetup. Its remit stretches beyond video games to board games, card games, interactive fiction, escape rooms and tabletop. There’s no formal agenda: just turn up and talk.
When and where: 5 Aug 2026, 7pm to 9:15pm | Brighton & Hove | Brighton Blockchain
Brighton Blockchain Meetup continues its fortnightly run at The Southern Belle. There’s no formal structure beyond conversation, newcomers are welcome, and the likely topics range from Web3 and DeFi to NFTs.
When and where: 6 Aug 2026, 7pm to 9pm | Brighton & Hove | Async
Async’s Web Performance, End to End takes a whole-system view of web performance rather than offering a grab-bag of isolated fixes. The talk at Runway East Brighton covers rendering, transport and serving, with pizza and drinks provided. There’s also a remote option if you can’t attend in person.
Job of the Week
Senior Fullstack Engineer
Moonshot Partners | Brighton & Hove | Hybrid
Moonshot Partners is recruiting a founding permanent engineer for a Brighton-based organisation serving public-sector workers.
It’s a hands-on senior role involving TypeScript, system architecture, AI-assisted engineering and bringing a vendor-built platform in-house. You’ll work directly with the Head of Engineering, help shape the organisation’s technical culture and contribute to a live product from your first week.
The role is full-time and requires at least three days a week in the Brighton office.

Can you help with local accessibility research?
Shivangi Gaikwad, an MSc User Experience Design student at the University of Brighton, is researching how people using vibe-coding tools think about and approach accessibility in the interfaces they create.
She’s looking for responses from anyone who has used tools such as Lovable, Replit, v0, Antigravity, Cursor or Claude Code. Developers, designers, founders, students and complete newcomers are all welcome, and no previous accessibility knowledge is needed.
The anonymous survey takes around 8–10 minutes. If you use these tools—or know somebody who does—your response or a shared link would be a real help.
